Turtle Feathers, as a part of its 'satisfaction guaranteed' policy, has replaced an inordinate number of MicroLux jigsaws. We have determined that the majority of these replacement claims are the result of misuse and abuse of the MicroLux saw. It is not reasonable to be expected to continue to honor these claims, and it has been decided that the MicroLux jigsaws are to be an exception (the only exception) to our usual 'satisfaction guaranteed' policy.
The MicroLux saw is a fine product, and one which we generally sell with confidence. However, its primary use is for fine detail work. Too many customers have chosen to use this product as an 'all purpose' saw, an inappropriate application.
These pictures clearly show why the MicroLux is an excellent choice for very fine detail cutting. However, most people, most of the time, are not doing fine detail cutting. The Proxxon saw, shown in the comparative pictures, is a jack-of-all-trades work horse, and is the best overall choice for most cutting needs.
We have many customers that own both saws, and switch from one to the other depending upon the needs of the project at hand. Unfortunately, too many people are using the light duty MicroLux for heavy duty use by cutting gourds that are too hard, or too thick, for the MicroLux to handle. The Proxxon saw is dramatically smaller than a standard jigsaw, and the MicroLux smaller yet again. However, between the Proxxon and the MicroLux there is a marked drop off in versatility and ruggedness. The Proxxon Jigsaw is our top recommendation for a reliable, general duty saw, and comes with our usual 'satisfaction guaranteed' warranty. The MicroLux saw is an outstanding choice for light duty, fine detail work. However, Turtle Feathers will no longer be responsible for, and will not replace, broken MicroLux saws.
